Logo Design
; iStart(420,329,'imgFrame','Pure Potential Weddings Logo','This logo was designed for a wedding planning business called Pure Potential Weddings. The emblematic flame (which also resembles a tulip) was designed to represent the concept of potential.');)
; iStart(420,329,'imgFrame','Pure Potential Weddings Logo - Alternate','This is an alternate version of the Pure Potential logo. Where the original logo uses entirely white lettering, this alternate uses a cut-out technique to allow for use against a white background. ');)
; iStart(620,113,'imgFrame','Highland Marketing Logo','The Highland Marketing logo was inspired by an old Scottish military medal. The central image of the thistle was used to further convey the Scottish connection, while the company’s three key words are wrapped around the thistle like a traditional credo. ');)
; iStart(325,420,'imgFrame','Early Concept Logo','This was an early conceptual logo for a potential company name that was never used. It uses geometric repetition (with a slight variation for the sake of balance), to achieve a compact and attractive logo, complete with a faux-gloss finish.');)
Stationary Design
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','Highland Marketing - Letterhead','This is the standard letterhead for Highland Marketing. It incorporates the logo, the ghostly Scot and the slogan bar, all of which are standardized elements of Highland’s corporate image.');)

It incorporates the logo, the Scot (rendered in dark green rather than it’s usual ghostly green) and the slogan bar, all of which are standardized elements of Highland’s corporate image. ');)
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','Pure Potential Weddings - Letterhead','This is the standard letterhead for Pure Potential Weddings. It incorporates the alternate logo rather than the usual logo, which is designed for use on a black background. ');)
; iStart(545,620,'imgFrame','Pure Potential Weddings - Business Card','This is the business card for Pure Potential Weddings. The font side of the card isolates the logo against a black background for dramatic effect, while the contact information is listed on the back of the card. A ghostly version of the logo’s flame is also included on the back of the card, to help connect the two sides of the card. ');)
Promotional Design
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','Keltech Creative Services Ad','This is a one page ad that Keltech Creative Services ran in the Highland Marketer. Featuring a prominent, laser-like version of the Keltech Cross, this eye-catching ad simply outlines our four general areas of service. ');)
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','Pure Potential Weddings Postcard','This is an oversized postcard we designed for Pure Potential Weddings to hand out to clients at tradeshows and other events. The client had a strong idea of what they were looking for, which helped make the execution simple and efficient.');)
; iStart(514,620,'imgFrame','We\'re Powering On Pamphlet','This piece was designed as a four-panel pamphlet outlining the expansion of Highland Marketing’s technical services. One point of interest is that, in the original photograph, the woman typing on the laptop was wearing a red sweater. Because we felt that this would clash with the prominent green, we used Photoshop to change the colour of the sweater to match the rest of the piece.');)
Magazine/Booklet Design
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','The Highland Marketer - Fall 2006 Cover','This is the cover for the Fall 2006 issue of the Highland Marketer. As the first of its kind, this cover really established the standard format which subsequent covers would follow. The image itself, which was selected for its stark contrast, literally puts the spotlight on the issue’s focus on data security. ');)
; iStart(620,408,'imgFrame','The Highland Markter - Fall 2006 Interior','This is a two-page spread from the interior of the Fall 2006 issue of the Highland Marketer. This spread relies heavily on the contrast of black and white in order to achieve its elegant simplicity. The blank column demarks space reserved for advertising. ');)
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','The Highland Marketer - Winter 2007 Cover','This is the cover for the Winter 2007 issue of the Highland Marketer. With instructions to relate to cover to the concept of community and to make it ‘sizzle,’ we created a relevant cover that was electric in its energy. ');)
; iStart(620,408,'imgFrame','The Highland Marketer - Winter 2007 Interior','This is a two-page spread from the interior of the Winter 2007 issue of the Highland Marketer. It is also features one of the cover articles. As such, we used similar colours, and tied the article to the cover by reusing the globe, which was featured so prominently on the outside of the book.');)
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','The Highland Marketer - Winter 2008 Cover','This is the cover for the Winter 2008 issue of the Highland Marketer, which contains a story about Highland Marketing’s fictional Gotcha Gang. As such, the cover features a digital painting of the prominent characters. ');)
; iStart(620,408,'imgFrame','The Highland Marketer - Winter 2008 Interior','This is a two-page spread from the interior of the Winter 2008 issue of the Highland Marketer. The layout is inspired entirely from the content of the article, which uses a strong fishing analogy. Thus, the prominent visual elements of the layout were selected for their association with fishing. ');)
; iStart(484,620,'imgFrame','Database and Address Accuracy Primer - Cover','This is the cover for the Database and Address Accuracy Primer, an e-book written by Highland Marketing president, Dave Ward. The cover’s matrix of images reflects the variety of different topics that the book addresses, all of which are presented in the context of data management. ');)
; iStart(620,408,'imgFrame','Database and Address Accuracy Primer - Interior','This two-page spread from the interior of the Database and Address Accuracy Primer shows the beginning of chapter 1. Each chapter begins with a nearly identical layout, though with a different colour and different matrix of images. ');)
Web Design

; iStart(620,395,'imgFrame','The 3C Project','The 3C Project website features a simple two-column, blog-like design, with primary content being in the larger left column and categorical links being placed in the right column. It is designed on a three column grid, but generally uses either one full-page column or one larger column with a narrower, secondary column. This allows for convenient flexibility and visual variation of text from page to page.');)
Photoshop Magic
; iStart(469,620,'imgFrame','Seeing Through the Code','This image was created in Photoshop, using a variety of layer and blending tools. The image’s main concept is to look beyond the all-consuming prevalence of the internet in today’s culture (as represented by the greenish binary background), to the advantages that are still offered by other media. ');)
; iStart(520,520,'imgFrame','Stiched Golfball','There has always been a connection between the sports of golf and baseball, and this particular image visualy emphasizes that connection through the fusion of their respective balls.');)
; iStart(720,567,'imgFrame','Stiched Golfball in Flames','With this image, we took the golf ball/baseball fusion that we had created and wrapped it in flames in order to give it a higher degree of energy. Placed against the black background, this gives the image a definite dramatic flair.');)
; iStart(620,420,'imgFrame','Impossible Space','This image was created as an experimental project, which we used to test some of the lighting effects and distorting filters available in Photoshop. We created the planet (an impossible, purple version of earth) from an image of a flat map by applying a filter to create the sphere, then applying several layers of shading and highlights in order to add the illusion of depth. ');)
; iStart(359,320,'imgFrame','Highland Marketing Cube','This image was created for Highland Marketing. Originally it was used to represent the concept of promotion (in this case, having the Rubix Cube branded with the company logo). However, this same image also suggests the company\'\'s effort and ability to develop innovative solutions. ');)

The two key features of this illustration are her pendant and her blonde hair (which is more obvious in the colour version), both of which are expected to figure into the story.<br /><br />The detail in the line work is minimal, as greater detail was to be added with the colouring. ');)
